BERWYN HEIGHTS POLICE DEPARTMENT
IMPOUNDED VEHICLE
RELEASES

If your vehicle has been impounded because of a parking violation, or because it was disabled
in a traffic accident, it is important to retrieve the vehicle as soon as possible to
avoid daily (and costly) impound lot storage charges.

Vehicles impounded by the Berwyn Heights Police Department are towed and stored by the
Greenbelt Road Shell Station - 6327 Greenbelt Road - Berwyn Heights, Maryland 20740
24-Hour Telephone Number (301) 474-8757

Before a vehicle can be retrieved from the impound lot, a VEHICLE RELEASE
must be obtained from the Berwyn Heights Police Department.

THE BERWYN HEIGHTS POLICE DEPARTMENT IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR TOWING AND  STORAGE FEES.

It is the registered owner of the vehicle that is responsible for the TOWING AND STORAGE FEES.

A Vehicle Release is an official form, which authorizes the towing company to turn the vehicle
over to it's rightful owner, after the towing and storage charges have been paid.

Vehicle Releases must be obtained from the Berwyn Heights Police Department Headquarters -
5411 Berwyn Road - Berwyn Heights, Maryland - From 9am to 5pm, Monday - Friday only.
The Fee for a VEHICLE RELEASE is $75.00,
(Cash or Money Order Only - Personal Checks Not Accepted),
and is in addition to any towing or storage charges from Greenbelt Road Shell.

To obtain a Vehicle Release you must be the Registered Owner of the Vehicle,
or have Power of Attorney, and you must have Valid Identification.
If you have any questions, Call (301) 474-6554.
